***Redesigned AFR Valvetrain now available!*** AFR's entire line of cylinder heads has been upgraded to LS1 style lightweight valvetrain technology. Current cylinder heads use 8mm valves, small diameter springs and a lightweight retainer package to achieve higher RPM capacity, better valvetrain control and more power! Hydraulic roller spring packages (165 & 185's) now include small diameter lightweight springs that are stronger (135lbs on the seat) and capable of more lift (.600 Max Lift) for no additional charge.

AFR heads entire SBF line is CNC ported from AFR to produce the highest flowing, highest velocity cylinder heads on the market today. AFR pioneered CNC cylinder head porting and was the first company to offer a full line of economically priced cnc ported cylinder heads to the aftermarket.

Today AFR has established the standard for comparision in the SBF head world. The 165 and 185's are benchmarked on 302 and 347 stroker combinations as well as 351 and larger engines looking for a low rpm, torque combination. Argueably the most versatile head today the AFR 205 fits high RPM NA and poer adder 331 and 347's all the way up to 408 and 427 street oriented applications. When a larger head is considered the AFR 225 is the gold standard for inline valve high flowing economical cylinder heads. Easily capable of 600hp in a basic naturally aspirated combination or in excess of 1200hp with a power adder they offer a great value for the small block Ford. Bang for the buck it's hard to find a better flowing, higher performing cylinder head than the 225.

General sizing guidelines:

AFR 165 Heads - Stock 302's - mild 331/347's - Torque 351 applications

AFR 185 Heads - Max effort 302's (piston notching required!), 331/347 strokers, 351's and torque 393-408 applications

AFR 205 Heads - High RPM or power adder 331-347 strokers, 351-427 strokers looking for great torque and efficiency

AFR 225 Heads - Max Effort 347-363's, High RPM 351-440 large cube strokers

AFR 185cc Emission Legal SBF Outlaw Street Cylinder Head

The Ultimate Bolt-On Emission Legal Street/Strip Weapon

If you need the world’s finest street/strip small block Ford head, check out AFR’s all new 185cc intake port emissions legal (CARB EO #250-3) cylinder heads. With 2.020 intake valves, 1.600” exhaust valves, combustion chamber volumes of 58cc or 61cc, and 69cc exhaust ports, AFR’s new 185cc Ford head is designed for 302-351 cid engines operating from 1500 rpm to 6500 rpm. A 3/4” thick head deck makes the AFR head ideal for nitrous or blower applications. Will not accept rail rocker arms. Hardened pushrods required with heads #1420 and #1422. High flow 2.020 valves might require aftermarket pistons notched for valve clearance. Note: 1986 5.0L must have pistons notched for clearance. Note: Hydraulic roller cams typically experience valve float at 5800-6000 rpm because of their fast ramp rates. AFR suggests you upgrade your springs to AFR part #8032, 1.530 O.D. with higher spring pressures to reduce chances of valve float associated with rpm’s 6000 or higher.
